Democracy in Practice: Freedom of Religion, “Immigrant Religion” and a Culture of Disagreement

The talk uses real anti-immigration and anti-Muslim messages as case studies to explore the demands that a functioning democracy places on both citizens and institutions when it comes to freedom of religion. Participants are given tools for addressing constructions of the “enemy” and fostering a culture of respectful disagreement.
